 THE PIONEERS

This project is inspired by the Russian immigration to Israel in 1880's. Civilized and educated people with an urban background arrived to Israel's desert-like environment with a vision to establish a strong independent country. These dedicated zionists left their careers behind and dedicated their new life to developing the Israeli agriculture. This is when a dialogue between medicine and agriculture began. A dialogue between the medical gowns of the labs and the worn out working overalls of the fields. Designing this collection was very meaningful to me as both of my grandmothers worked in the SSSR manufacturing plants, sewing the denim overalls and working uniforms.

The immigrants who gave medical services also went out to work the desert land of Israel in order to grow something or anything they could eventually eat,  this is what led me to search for the border between  the medical gown and farmer suit. On the one hand robe, apron on the other hand working overall.
