The project beggins with designing a product to a particular proffession, by learning it needs and deficiencies. Therefore the process of the design is very different from any other projects I had before. Only when the funtionality design is complete, comes the fashionable intervention, which in some parts or completely distant from the main subject, the profession I chose to design for.

 F4 THE BUTCHER

In this project I chose the Butcher profession, reasearched it it and looked for the difficulties and drawbacks that encounters the worker in his workfield. As I did my reaserch, I realized that the main problem is the blood filth. The apron doesn't really keeps the worker clothes clean. One time use of the apron also loses its meaning, so I reffered to its use as a consumable product too. The second thing I found is the heavy weight lifting, the worker lifts tens of pounds a day of meat just with his physical strengh, some often develop back problems and muscle pain.

FROM 2D

TO 3D

I refferred to the apron as a typical dress of the Butcher, so it was important to me it will answer his needs. When I added sleeves and the face cover, I realized the folding process is getting more complicated. But I did not want to give up on one-time use the material. After few sketches and some draping attempts, I got the desired result, a recyclable full body cover apron made of nylon.

DRAPING THE PAPPER

The design of the second garment  began with draping papper on the mannequin without having to plan it in advance sketch, and yet I referred to the needs of Butcher, like covering his face and with a diagonal cut and padding his shoulder with a sponge stripe.

SARAH SCHOENFELD'S DRUGS

The fashion part was pure free improvisation, many images brought me inspiraion and somehow they all came toghether in one complete story at the end. when I first saw Sarah's pictures of the drugs on blog, I was fascinated by its spectacular colors. The connection to matador games is done when I read in the newspaper about Spain goverment decision to outlaw the matador games because of the drug use and abuse of bulls during the games. One thing led to another, and I've found myself expressing through fashion the dilema about animal abuse.

MONOPRINT TECHNIC

COLLAGE IT

Since I alredy had the shades and the patterns of the garments, all I needed is to find the best ornamet for them, and as this project opposed to the traditional hand-sketches, the best way was to collage to images into fashion illustartions.
