2D TO 3D

Ten boxes, ten people, ten stories. I started this project by exploring the boxes I have at home, I've been collecting them since highschool from different time a places, so each one tells a different story. I use them to store things, but actually I use them more as decorations. I was traveling in time and place, and found russian fashion and architecture in the 16th century as a big influence on my fetish to these boxes, also by comparing structures to clothes, as objects that contain us. by taking the box pattern and trying to make it wearable and adding to it ethnic russian decorations, I've created this garment. I also wrote a blog as part of the requirements of the project.

Materials: Drill, fine knited fabrics, fine woven fabrics.

FINAL COLLECTION

I took a basic box pattern and enlarged it to the size that would allow me to drape it on the mannequin doll, it took only few attempts to get interesting results of innovative silhouettes and patterns. To this I added the floral decoration witch are so identified with the russian textile.
